How do I install Google Pay in my store?

To prepare Google Pay for your store, configure your Stripe account and your site's access to the Google Pay API, then enter the module settings.

1/ Prepare your Stripe account

Create a Stripe account or sign in to your existing account, then complete your business profile and the checks required to accept live payments.

The module uses Stripe as its payment gateway. Processing fees depend on your Stripe agreement; creating an account does not mean transactions are free.

In your Stripe Dashboard, review the payment method settings and payment method domains. Follow the requirements shown for your account and integration. Registering a domain with Stripe does not replace the Google approval described below for this module.

2/ Prepare production access to Google Pay

The module calls the Google Pay API with Stripe as its gateway. Its Google Pay Merchant ID field expects the Google merchant identifier obtained through the Google Pay & Wallet Console.

  1. Create or complete your merchant profile in this console.
  2. Under Google Pay API, add your website integration and domains, choosing the Gateway integration type with Stripe as the gateway.
  3. After testing, provide the information Google requests and submit your website for production approval. See the official production access procedure.

The Google Pay Merchant ID is provided by Google. It is required in production and the module does not send it to Google in test mode.

3/ Retrieve your Stripe keys

Open the API keys page for the relevant Stripe account. Retrieve the test environment's publishable and secret keys separately from the live publishable and secret keys. Test and live keys access separate data.

Warning: store secret keys securely and never share them. A live secret or restricted key you create yourself is displayed only once. If you lose it, replace it and update the configuration that uses it. See the Stripe API keys documentation for exceptions and rotation procedures.

4/ Check the prerequisites and continue

Your store must use HTTPS. Google Pay availability also depends on the browser, Google account, card and supported countries. The module requests only Visa and Mastercard; another network being available through Google Pay does not make it available through this module.

Continue with module configuration and test mode checks before enabling live payments.
