How to register my website with Bing Webmaster Tools?
Before using IndexNow, you must register your website with Bing Webmaster Tools and have your site ownership authenticated. This is a mandatory step to ensure that your website is recognized and authorized for IndexNow submissions.
How to register and verify your website:
- Go to Bing Webmaster Tools and sign in with your Microsoft, Google, or Facebook account.
- Click on "Add a Site" and enter your website URL.
- After adding your site, you will be prompted to verify ownership. Bing offers several verification methods:
- XML File Authentication: Download the provided BingSiteAuth.xml file and upload it to the root directory of your website.
- Meta Tag Authentication: Copy the provided meta tag and paste it into the
<head>section of your website's homepage. - CNAME Record: Add a CNAME record to your domain's DNS configuration as instructed.
- Once you have completed one of the verification methods, click "Verify" in Bing Webmaster Tools.
- After successful verification, your website will be listed as "verified" in your Bing Webmaster Tools dashboard.
Once verified, you can use IndexNow to submit your URLs to search engines.
