Do I have to include the user_id tag?
The user_id parameter identifies a user, rather than a product. Enabling it alone does not fix a missing item ID warning.
For product dynamic remarketing, the IDs sent in items[].id must match the products in the Merchant Center feed. See the product ID FAQ and the tag testing procedure.
What does the module setting do?
In Basic settings, Include the user_id parameter? controls whether this value is added. It is enabled by default.
- For a signed-in customer, the module uses their PrestaShop customer ID.
- For a signed-out visitor, the module generates a random value. It is not a stable visitor identifier across pages, sessions or devices.
- Selecting No disables the addition of this value by the module. Save the tab after changing the setting.
When should you use Google’s User ID features?
Google documents specific uses for user_id which require unique, stable identifiers without directly identifying information such as an email address. The availability of some settings depends on the account and its eligibility.
The module setting therefore does not guarantee access to every audience feature or cross-device tracking for anonymous visitors. Google specifically states that segments using User ID are not supported for Display campaigns.
Check Google’s User ID requirements and instructions before configuring this use case.
After any change, inspect the parameters actually sent in Tag Assistant, using a test customer both signed in and signed out. This parameter does not replace consent configuration.
