How to fix a server redirection error on my CRON task ?
A CRON task can follow several HTTP redirects while processing the catalogue in batches. An ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS error can come from the executing client's limit, a real loop or an unexpected redirect. By itself, it does not establish that the server is overloaded.
- Use the exact CRON URL for the feed, keeping it separate from its XML URL. Check the domain, HTTP/HTTPS and feed protection.
- Ask your webmaster to inspect the redirect chain and logs. Distinguish finite progress through batches from a loop that returns to the same state.
- Check that the scheduler follows redirects and that its time and redirect limits suit the number of batches.
- Adjust Number of products per cycle in Basic settings carefully. Larger batches reduce the number of cycles but use more resources; smaller batches can avoid memory or PHP time limits.
A blank page does not confirm success. Check task completion and the complete XML. Have your webmaster adjust the hosting limits actually in effect; routinely editing config.inc.php or prescribing 1 GB of memory is not a universal solution.
