What to do if my tag test is working but I'm seeing a significant loss or drop in data in my Google Analytics or Google Ads account?
Start with the test for your module:
- Google Dynamic Remarketing: test the tag.
- Google Ads Conversion Tracking Pro: test the tag.
- Google Analytics: general test and purchase test.
If the technical test works, but afterwards reports remain empty or decrease, separate the event prepared on the site, its transmission and its processing. The result alone does not attribute the drop to the cookie banner.
- For Analytics, check the selected property and stream, the
G-destination ID, date range and time zone. Establish whether the drop affects every event or only some. - Reproduce an event and inspect hits sent, parameters and consent. For Analytics, also confirm reception in DebugView or Realtime. Presence in dataLayer remains a local observation.
- For Analytics purchases, use a new transaction. Check
transaction_id, the return to confirmation, order status and minimum order ID threshold. - Account for processing time: standard Analytics reports may require 24–48 hours. Also examine filters and recent changes to the store, theme, module, CMP or Google configuration.
- Compare a session with acceptance, one with refusal and, where available, partial acceptance followed by withdrawal. Record the four consent signals actually applied.
No data after refusal is not automatically a bug. In basic consent mode, Google tags can remain blocked without consent. In advanced mode, they can send measurements without cookies. Associated modeling depends on eligibility requirements and does not guarantee recovery of all missing data.
If behavior differs from the chosen mode, send the test results and relevant versions to module and consent-solution support. Check consent configuration before changing a setting. Do not enable a forcing option solely because reports are incomplete.

For Google Ads, also compare the account and conversion action, tag destination and label, attribution windows and Ads-specific delays. For dynamic remarketing, check product ID matching with the feed, together with account and campaign diagnostics: see Google Dynamic Remarketing troubleshooting. A local test does not validate these external configurations by itself.
