How to test the sending of product (or shop) rating request emails?

Test review requests on a staging shop, using an order and a receiving address you control. First configure rating emails and CRON tasks.

Prepare a repeatable test

1. Record the current settings so you can restore them.
2. Use an order status dedicated to the test. The “Show delivery PDF” setting is not a prerequisite for this module: it uses the ID of the selected status.
3. Enable product reviews and their emails. Under Rating emails → Product review emails, select the test status and set the email delay to 0. To test a reminder too, enable reminders and set their delay to 0. Save.
4. Place a new test order, then change it to the selected status. A new order makes the test easier to follow.

An earlier order is not always excluded: changing to the configured status can create a missing callback. The product section also offers an import of orders from the past 30 days. Avoid using these tools on a real order history merely to run a test.

Run and check

1. Copy the CRON URL from Product review emails and open it in a new tab. Keep this URL confidential.
2. Read the execution report, then check receipt of the first email. CRON processing and actual delivery are separate checks: inspect email transport and spam folders if necessary.
3. Without submitting a review in between, run the same URL again to test the reminder. Even with a zero delay, the reminder is selected during a subsequent run, after the initial request is processed.

Test shop review emails

Repeat these steps under Shop review emails, using its activation, order status, delays and its own CRON URL. The product URL does not replace the shop URL. Use a new order to distinguish the results of the two tests.

After testing, restore the original statuses, delays, reminders and other settings.
