How to migrate from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4?

Google Analytics 4 has replaced Universal Analytics. Standard UA properties stopped processing new data starting July 1, 2023. Google started closing access to the UA interface, APIs and data in July 2024.

The old steps to link a UA property or export its reports before shutdown are therefore no longer a procedure you can follow today. Google does not support importing UA historical data into a GA4 property. Any exports you previously saved remain separate from the data collected by GA4.

To use the module now:

  1. Create or identify your GA4 property and Web stream.
  2. Copy the stream’s G- measurement ID into the module.
  3. Check consent management and test the events received.

If a GA4 property was created automatically during the transition, check its configuration and current data reception before reusing it.
