How to exclude products from certain advertising channels?

excluded_destination excludes an item from specific Google destinations. It does not remove the product from every surface.

Under Feed data options, enable excluded destinations, save when requested and open category mapping. The standard edition supports Shopping ads, display ads, local inventory ads, free listings and free local listings. A historical Buy on Google label can remain in some controls; do not treat it as evidence of a currently supported program. Select the relevant destinations and save.

Mapping uses the default category.

An item can have several excluded destinations; check repeated XML tags and their effect in Merchant Center. Results also depend on active destinations and campaigns: excluding Shopping does not guarantee exclusion from every other advertising use.

Historical Smart Shopping campaigns no longer describe the full current setup. Check the exact destination and Google's documentation for your campaigns, including Performance Max, before concluding that an item cannot be served.

Example: Display Ads selected for default category Clothes > Men.
Example: Display Ads selected for default category Clothes > Men.

Display ads and Performance Max

Under Google’s current rule, excluding display ads requires the Dynamic Remarketing add-on in Merchant Center and does not prevent dynamic remarketing ads created by Performance Max campaigns. Also check exclusions and settings within those campaigns.
