How to indicate that my product is available for pre-order or that it will soon be back in stock?

The module can mark a product as backordered using availability=backorder. It does not generate a separate preorder value.

Configure a backordered product

  1. On the product or combination page, allow orders when stock is depleted and provide an availability date.
  2. Under Product feed management → Feed data options, choose to indicate products as available only if they are actually in stock.
  3. Enable the setting that takes the availability date into account and save. Its label may still mention both preorder and backorder tags.
  4. Update the feed using your selected generation method, then check the XML actually served.

Generated values

Situation Feed availability Date submitted
Quantity greater than zero in stock No
Quantity zero or below, orders allowed, setting enabled and availability date provided backorder Yes
Quantity zero or below and any preceding condition missing out of stock No

When the product uses PrestaShop’s default out-of-stock behaviour, the global setting that allows out-of-stock orders also affects this calculation.

Warning: if you force all products to appear in stock, the module submits in stock and omits the date even for a product without stock. Do not use this option to submit availability that contradicts the actual offer.

The availability and date must match your product page and checkout. Google distinguishes preorders for unreleased products from backorders for existing products. Do not describe the module’s option as separate support for preorders.

To exclude selected out-of-stock products instead, read the available-for-order filter. Check the result when using PrestaShop’s global default behaviour.
