How to match my products with Google categories?

Google categorizes products automatically. google_product_category can refine or correct that classification when needed; manual mapping is not universally required for every item.

  1. Open Google management → Matching with Google Categories.
  2. Refresh the official list when needed, then choose the taxonomy used by the feed. A taxonomy's language is not the feed country code.
  3. For the relevant shop categories, select the most specific Google category accurately describing their products.
  4. Click Modify to save the mapping, then inspect XML google_product_category. Selecting a suggestion does not save the mapping.

The module uses the product's default category for this mapping. Check that it supports meaningful classification; do not group products requiring different mappings under one generic category.

Synchronizing and mapping taxonomy does not guarantee better ranking. If synchronization fails, record the message and ask your webmaster to check access to the official source, rather than choosing an inaccurate category to hide the error.
