What is the "product type" attribute?

The product_type attribute describes the product's category path in your shop, for example Clothing → Tops → T-shirts. The module builds it from the default category and category path.

In Basic settings, What type of products are you selling? provides a fallback when a usable category path cannot be retrieved. Choose a useful label, such as “Clothing”, so that you can recognise the affected items.

Enter a value in every language offered by the field's language selector, save and inspect g:product_type in the XML. This module construction rule must not be confused with a universal Meta requirement for all catalog destinations. See Meta taxonomy, which is a separate field.

Make sure to give a replacement value for every language by clicking on the drop-down menu next to the field.
