What is the purpose of assigning a "shop" prefix to product IDs?

With Use the IDs of the products in the back-office, the shop prefix distinguishes items from several shops feeding one catalog. Choose a stable, different prefix for each shop when numeric IDs could overlap.

The construction is: SHOP PREFIX + optional LANGUAGE PREFIX + PRODUCT ID + optional separator and COMBINATION ID. Example: BMFR1v12. Without the language prefix, that example becomes BM1v12.

Set the prefix in Basic settings. Reference and EAN modes have their own rules; see ID modes.

Warning: changing a prefix changes feed IDs. Check equality with Pixel content_ids and the effect on existing items and campaigns before changing it. For country or language feeds sharing the same items, disable the LANG prefix: see this setting.
